What you need to know
Students learn that when a story addresses the reader as "you" and honors their decisions, the reader stops watching and starts inhabiting — every path must be written as a complete, satisfying branch. Packard's origin story shows the idea being born from listening to his daughters' different choices. Students go further than the books could: their story asks for the hero's name and choice of item, and weaves both into the adventure.
